Sober August: Week 2

-Day 11-

Sober August is becoming a little easier than I had originally anticipated! I thought at least by now not drinking would have been a lot harder.

I had a few events I had to go to that had alcohol available, but I stayed strong and did not partake! It’s a bit more difficult when I have had a long day and just want to sit back and relax with a nice cold drink. One little hack I have picked up is to get a Mineral water in a glass bottle (like Topo Chico or something) with a little lime juice and trick my brain into thinking I am having a beer!

I have also been hardcore dieting recently and I thought this would worsen my cravings, but I’ve found it to be the opposite! I have been counting calories and never really thought about how many empty calories you consume by just having a few drinks! For example, sometimes I would drink a glass of whiskey straight with maybe a little dash of bitters. If I were to make it like I usually would, I would pour 3 shots of Whiskey on Ice with a dash of Bitters, that’s 325 Calories for just ONE drink! That’s typically one whole meal.
